When: Saturdays from 10 - 11 AM

Where: Meet on the corner of North Ave and N 23rd Street, directly in front of the VA Hospital on the sidewalk facing North Ave.

GJ City Council holds their regular meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 5:30 pm in the City Hall Auditorium, 250 N 5th Street.

These meetings are open to the public. Meeting agendas are posted the Friday afternoon prior to the Wednesday meeting on the City’s Agendas & Minutes webpage.

Meet Logan M. Davis - Award-winning journalist, researcher, and writer

Logan M. Davis is a Denver-based researcher, writer, consultant, and investigative columnist with the Colorado Times Recorder. His work focuses on the intersection of politics, education, information, and the growing influence of organized political movements in Colorado.

For nearly a decade, Davis has specialized in researching right-wing extremist movements, Christian nationalism, political influence networks, information ecosystems, and dark money in politics. His work combines investigative reporting with deep research into the people, organizations, money, and ideas shaping public policy.

Davis has devoted significant attention to Colorado’s public education system, including school board politics, charter schools, education policy, and the growing national movement to reshape public education. His reporting has taken him from school board meetings in rural Colorado to national political and legal battles.

His reporting has included extensive coverage of education controversies in Western Colorado, including the Montrose Classical Academy charter school effort and the network of organizations and individuals involved in Colorado’s conservative education movement.

In December 2025, Davis published “The Plot to Take a Local School District to the Supreme Court,” an investigative examination of efforts by conservative education activists and attorneys to use local school districts as vehicles for major legal challenges reaching the U.S. Supreme Court. A frequent public speaker, Davis brings a unique perspective to conversations about public education, democracy, political influence, and the forces reshaping communities across Colorado.

Join us Saturday, September 5th for a concert benefiting La Plaza located here in Mesa County featuring Quemando, who are a lively and very entertaining 9 piece Salsa band that will get you up and dancing the night away! Tickets are $25/person pre-sale and $30 at the door. 

Wine, beer, cider and non-alcoholic drinks will be available at the GRV bar along with some other concessions. Two food trucks will be on site for additional dining options.

About La Plaza: “Cultivating community in a welcoming place. La Plaza is a nonprofit organization that supports the health and wellbeing of migrant and immigrant communities in Mesa County, Colorado. Through empowerment and advocacy we ensure that our members and their families are able to equitably access and benefit from the resources that make all of our lives better.”

GJ’s Immigrant Partnership Team encourages you to attend if you would like to recommit to participating in this group. Our immigrant neighbors continue to get detained and many live in fear which impacts their daily lives. There are numerous and varied opportunities to participate and we would like to hear from you as to what you need to devote some of your time and energy to do so. more training? Wine & Write is a new monthly gathering for neighbors who believe democracy shouldn’t end when a public meeting does. Bring a friend and connect with neighbors, catch up on local issues, and write meaningful, handwritten letters to our local decision-makers. Bring your laptop, tablet, or phone if it helps you research or organize your thoughts, but we’ll put pen to paper and create something our elected officials have to physically receive, open, and read.

Whether you’re writing your first letter or you’re a seasoned advocate, Wine & Write is a place to build confidence, strengthen your voice, and turn frustration into action.

One letter won’t change a city. But hundreds of letters, written by neighbors who keep showing up, just might.
